Stainless steel railing prices in India are almost always quoted per running foot (rft). The final number depends on the system type, steel grade, glass, finish and installation — so two railings that look similar can differ by 2× in cost. What actually decides the price

- Glass. 12 mm toughened glass is the standard for frameless systems; laminated or extra-clear glass adds cost. Thickness requirements are covered in the glass thickness guide.
- Finish. Mirror and matt are standard; anodized and powder-coated finishes add a small per-foot premium but extend life outdoors.
- Handrail. A top handrail (round, square, oval or slim rectangular) adds material but is required on staircases.
- Site and city. Installation labour varies by city; curved runs, height work and core-cutting add labour. Straight terrace runs are the cheapest per foot.
- Quantity. Per-foot rates drop meaningfully on bulk and project quantities — dealers and contractors should ask about wholesale and export pricing.
How to lower the cost without lowering quality
- Buy the hardware from a manufacturer and have a local fabricator install — you skip one margin layer.
- Choose a bracket system instead of continuous where the seamless look isn't critical.
- Use SS 304 indoors and reserve SS 316 for genuinely coastal or pool-side runs.
- Keep runs straight where possible; curves are the most expensive feet on the job.
