Glass Railing Hardware for Export to Canada
Manufactured in Rajkot, India · available for export to Canada
Prince Railing manufactures glass railing hardware that Canadian railing contractors, deck builders and distributors can import factory-direct: spigots, aluminium base profiles, glass brackets and top rails in SS 304 and SS 316. Everything is made at our own factory in Rajkot, Gujarat, and we can export it by sea to Canada through Vancouver, Prince Rupert, Montreal and Halifax. We have no office, agent or stock in Canada; you would buy direct from the manufacturer.
What the parts are called in Canada
The hardware is the same everywhere; the names are not. This is how local trade terms map to our catalogue.
| Term used in Canada | In our catalogue |
|---|---|
| Base shoe / base channel | Continuous system (aluminium base profile) |
| Spigot / mini post | SS spigot |
| Glass clip / bracket | Bracket system |
| Top rail / cap rail | Top handrail |
| Fascia mount | Side-mount system |
We work in millimetres and will confirm imperial equivalents on the drawing; 12 mm glass is the nominal half-inch.
What you get from the factory
- Made in-house. All seven railing systems are produced at our own works in Rajkot, which is how quality and finish stay consistent across a large order.
- Stated steel grade. SS 304 or SS 316, named on the quotation, with mill test certificates available on request.
- Finishes. Anodized, powder-coated, mirror and matt.
- Made to your specification. Glass thickness, supported height and profile length are manufactured to the project.
- Packed for sea freight. Profiles supported along their length with protected ends, fittings boxed and itemised.
Codes your project will be checked against
Guards in Canada follow the National Building Code as adopted by each province, alongside provincial codes such as Ontario's and British Columbia's. The commonly cited guard heights are 900 mm within a dwelling and on low exterior drops, and 1,070 mm elsewhere, with openings sized so a 100 mm sphere cannot pass. Glass guards are an area provinces have tightened, and many now expect an engineered design to CSA A500. Confirm the requirement with your engineer and the authority having jurisdiction.
We manufacture the hardware; whether an installed barrier complies is decided by your engineer or certifier for that structure, glass and fixing. We provide profile dimensions, the steel grade and mill test certificates on request so they can make that call.
Steel grade for the climate
Freeze-thaw cycles and road and walkway de-icing salt are harder on stainless than rain alone, so exterior railings near grade, parking structures and coastal sites in British Columbia and the Atlantic provinces should be specified in SS 316. Interior stairs and sheltered balconies are well served by SS 304. The reasoning is set out in our SS 304 vs SS 316 guide.
Shipping to Canada
Export orders ship by sea from the Gujarat coast, where Mundra, Kandla and Pipavav are the container ports nearest the factory. The main destination ports for Canada are Vancouver, Prince Rupert, Montreal and Halifax. Freight for Ontario and Quebec would normally land at Montreal or Halifax and move on by rail or road; freight for the western provinces at Vancouver or Prince Rupert. Packing, documents and the commercial terms worth settling at quotation stage are covered in our guide to importing railing hardware from India; for this market, also see the glass deck railing hardware guide.
