Glass Railing Hardware for Export to the USA
Manufactured in Rajkot, India · available for export to the United States
Prince Railing manufactures glass railing hardware that US contractors, deck builders and distributors can import factory-direct: spigots, aluminium base shoe profiles, glass brackets and cap rails in SS 304 and SS 316. Everything is made at our own factory in Rajkot, Gujarat, and we can export it by sea to the United States through New York / New Jersey, Savannah, Houston and Los Angeles / Long Beach. We have no office, agent or stock in the United States; you would buy direct from the manufacturer.
What the parts are called in the United States
The hardware is the same everywhere; the names are not. This is how local trade terms map to our catalogue.
| Term used in the United States | In our catalogue |
|---|---|
| Base shoe | Continuous system (aluminium base profile) |
| Spigot / mini post | SS spigot |
| Glass clamp / bracket | Bracket system |
| Cap rail / top rail | Top handrail |
| Fascia mount | Side-mount system |
Send dimensions in inches or millimetres; we work in metric and confirm both. Half-inch glass is 12 mm, and the common laminated make-ups are 13.52 mm (about 9/16 in) and 17.52 mm (about 11/16 in).
What you get from the factory
- Made in-house. All seven railing systems are produced at our own works in Rajkot, which is how quality and finish stay consistent across a large order.
- Stated steel grade. SS 304 or SS 316, named on the quotation, with mill test certificates available on request.
- Finishes. Anodized, powder-coated, mirror and matt.
- Made to your specification. Glass thickness, supported height and profile length are manufactured to the project.
- Packed for sea freight. Profiles supported along their length with protected ends, fittings boxed and itemised.
Codes your project will be checked against
Guards in the US are checked against the International Residential Code for one- and two-family homes and the International Building Code for everything else, as adopted and amended by each state and city. The commonly cited minimum guard heights are 36 inches under the IRC and 42 inches under the IBC, with a 200 lb concentrated load and a 50 lb per foot line load on the top. Recent IBC editions generally call for laminated glass in guards, and a top rail unless the laminated design is engineered to stand without one. Your jurisdiction may differ, so confirm with the building official.
We manufacture the hardware; whether an installed barrier complies is decided by your engineer or certifier for that structure, glass and fixing. We provide profile dimensions, the steel grade and mill test certificates on request so they can make that call.
Steel grade for the climate
Coastal states, pool decks and anywhere de-icing salt reaches the hardware call for SS 316. Dry inland interiors are well served by SS 304. Timber and composite decks move with the seasons more than concrete does, which is worth raising with your engineer when choosing between a base shoe and spigots. The reasoning is set out in our SS 304 vs SS 316 guide.
Shipping to the United States
Export orders ship by sea from the Gujarat coast, where Mundra, Kandla and Pipavav are the container ports nearest the factory. The main destination ports for the United States are New York / New Jersey, Savannah, Houston and Los Angeles / Long Beach. East Coast and Gulf ports are the shorter sailings from western India; the West Coast is a longer voyage. Packing, documents and the commercial terms worth settling at quotation stage are covered in our guide to importing railing hardware from India; for this market, also see the glass deck railing hardware guide.
